Amber Lenon (above) along with Sierra Spring and Samantha Blizzard were named to the YPSL U14 Girls Team.

The Youth Premier Soccer League (YPSL) released the names of the 2008 U14 Girls all-stars. Sierra Spring (Saratoga), Amber Lennon (South Glens Falls) and Samantha Blizzard (South Glens Falls) were chosen by league officials.

Coach PJ Motsiff said, "Sierra, Amber and Sam had a sensational spring/summer season training with the Adirondack Lynx and playing in the YPSL. The girls were very focused and got a lot out of every training session. They really brought their peers to a new level when they were on the pitch with them. These three players have been in training with our program for over a year. It is great to see that their hard work and dedication are being noticed by other coaches outside of our region."

Amber Lenon (South Glens Falls) – defender – Amber always drew the assignment of marking a teams best attacker. She often frustrated those players as they rarely got opportunites to score or even get shots off. With her speed Amber never had trouble tracking down opponents that got in behind the defense.

Sierra Spring (Saratoga) Defender/goalkeeper – Sierra was extremely consistent as a defender. She uses her size to her advantage and would win 50/50 balls with ease. A number of times she jumped in goal this season. In there she was phenomenal...especially in a 4-0 loss to the Lancaster Inferno on the final weekend. The Inferno had been blowing teams out all season and Sierra almost single handidly kept her team in the game.

Sam Blizzard (South Glens Falls) – Forward – Sam plays at a higher speed then most. Sam was consistently creating opportunities for her teammates to score. She was often getting in behind the defense. Her asset is her ability top link with other players and play very simple.

About the YPSL
The Youth Premier Soccer League is a high quality regional league, providing top-level competition for elite players across the north-eastern United States. Multiple games are played over competition weekends at central venues through the summer. This format enables more playing opportunities per weekend, without expensive tournament costs. The league offers top quality soccer through the summer season, supporting player development within genuinely regional competition, while minimizing travel and accommodation costs.
Formed in 2008, the YPSL represents a better and smarter way to play, offering the best possible opportunity for high level competition without prohibitive financial or time barriers, and giving players and parents a better scheduled weekend of soccer.
In 2009, the league will have two conferences, the North Atlantic Conference covering New England and upstate New York, and the Mid-Atlantic Conference covering Metro-New York to Virginia.
The YPSL is sanctioned by US Club Soccer, which - through its 'id2' program - provides standout players the chance to be identified and given further development opportunities at the national level. Unlike ODP, parents do not have to assume the expense of multiple costly tryout camps (that also remove players from their club programs for significant periods of time) to ensure their players are seen by id2 scouts. id2 identifies players regardless of their affiliation, and in their own environment as they compete with their club teams.
The YPSL runs from mid-June to the last weekend of July so as not to clash with clubs' spring seasons, while offer players continued development opportunities during the summer.
